Frances K. Jackson
Frances K. Jackson is a native of Washington, D.C., a resident of San Diego since 1961, is the subject of a historical photo in the San Diego History Center’s Baynard Collection, and has been a real estate trailblazer active since 1963. She has over 45 years' experience in business and industrial management, real estate consulting, and executive and community leadership. She is the CEO and owner of Nefran Real Estate & Consultant Services/Ameriwest Mortgage & Investment; and previous owner/founder of Frances K. Jackson Appraisal Firm (the first Black-owned real estate appraisal firm in the County of San Diego). Through her companies she has recruited, educated, and trained black and minority individuals to enter the real estate appraisal industry. As an adjunct college professor for 27 years with the San Diego Community College District, she has provided education, instruction, training and mentorship to over 5,000 students.
Mrs. Jackson participates in the development and evaluation of business management, entrepreneurship, and real estate curriculum for several statewide college institutions and trade associations. She is responsible for the implementation and positions of real estate internships, real estate assistants, and transaction coordinators. She serves various civic and community based organizations in meeting the challenges of legislative initiatives and laws to insure the availability of affordable housing, equal credit opportunities, and to prevent discriminatory practices locally, statewide, and nationally. Currently she conducts seminars on financial literacy, foreclosure prevention, predatory lending and lenders practices of loan modifications, especially in the Fourth District.
Mrs. Jackson has committed a lifetime of service to enhance and improve the quality of life for our citizens and communities, especially in the Fourth District. She has received numerous awards and honors from various organizations and entities for community service. She was named 2010 African American Business Woman of Year; 2008 Phenomenal Woman; 2005 Woman of Distinction; One of Ten Top Women in Real Estate; and listed in several Who’s Who biographies. She has held several leadership positions with both Realtor and Realtist organizations.
She currently serves as education chairperson and board member with NAREB San Diego Realtists for Democracy in Housing; President of HOPE, CDC; Vice President of Friends of Allensworth, San Diego Chapter; member of the Martin Luther King Democratic Club, and active member 31st Street Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Jackson is the mother of three children, Dr. Nenaji Jackson, professor at Howard University; Daryl Jackson, real estate broker and loan specialist; and Julius Jackson, nurse. She has 6 grandchildren, and many unofficial adopted children and grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson holds two Master’s degrees, a Master’s in International Business (MIBA) and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA), a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and has continued her education with several postgraduate courses, such as industrial psychology and organizational behavior; lifetime college instructor credentials, business, public administration, and real estate.
