our seniors. The needs of seniors' services are shifting according to the demographics; moving forward we will be soliciting input from the
existing participants and potential new participants on ways we can make the center even more responsive, implement more service offerings and establish a connection with the younger generations of our community. With the help of the community we can touch all seniors within the 4th District and hopefully provide a service that improves the quality of life for all seniors within our service area."

"Seniors are valuable living history books. They have lived through historic events that should be appreciated. Here you will meet people who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., soldiers who fought in World War II and hear of experiences not told in traditional history books or school lessons. All you need do is sit at the front door and interact with people in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s who come here daily and are so active. I am honored to serve on this Board because I am eager to expose African American history to my children and the community at-large. I appreciate our seniors who have contributed to our country, our community, our neighborhood. It is time that we return the favor."
Barbara Walden
Beauty maven Barbara Walden was so impressed with the Senior Center, she agreed to have her line of cosmetics distributed exclusively in San Diego by the Seasoned Gift Shop. Alicia Bell
Alicia Bell has a passion for fashion and the finer things. As coordinator of the Seasoned Gift Shop, she hand picks all items and displays them masterfully. "Our seasoned ambassadors have wonderful things to share in order to support the Center. Some are gently used, and much of what we sell is new. There's no need for it to gather dust when someone could enjoy it right now. Bring in that "old" item, and then shop for something new!" says Ms. Bell.

Rosemary Pope, Executive Director, Fourth District Seniors Resource Center
"Age is just a number, and mine is unlisted," quips Rosemary Pope, Executive Director of the George L. Stevens Senior Center. She is a ball of energy with unlimited enthusiasm for the Center and the "seasoned ambassadors" (a phrase she coined) who frequent the premises. At every event, you will see signs of her creativity and attention to detail.
